Posted on Apr 01, 2024I am having trouble assembling the Kallax shelving unit. The instructions are unclear and I'm not sure how to secure the shelves to the frame. Can you provide a video or written guide on how to properly assemble the shelves? Additionally, are there any specific screws or tools required for assembly?
Alice @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Apr 03, 2024To assemble the KALLAX shelving unit, you'll need a Phillips head screwdriver and the hardware provided in the package. Here are the steps:
1. Attach the underframe to the side panels using the screws provided. Ensure the screws are tightened securely.
2. Insert the shelves into the side panels, aligning them with the pre-drilled holes. Push the shelves firmly into place.
3. Secure the shelves to the side panels by inserting the screws through the pre-drilled holes on the side panels and into the shelves. Tighten the screws fully.
4. If your KALLAX unit has additional accessories like doors or drawers, follow the specific assembly instructions for those items.
The key is to ensure all screws are tightened properly to create a sturdy and secure shelving unit. Take your time and double-check each step. Let me know if you have any other questions

Answered on Jan 11, 2024The underframe of the KALLAX shelving unit can be removed or detached. The underframe is designed to be a separate component that can be easily assembled or disassembled from the main shelving unit. This allows you to customize the look and functionality of the KALLAX to suit your needs. By removing the underframe, you can create a more streamlined and minimalist appearance for the shelving unit

You can purchase additional KALLAX shelving units and connect them side-by-side to increase the overall storage capacity. IKEA also offers a variety of inserts, boxes, and other accessories that can be used with the KALLAX system to further customize and expand its storage capabilities. These include doors, drawers, baskets, and even a cabinet insert that can be added to the open shelves.
