Posted on May 14, 2023I recently purchased the SEKTION Base cab with 2 drawers mentioned above and I'm having some issues with the drawer runners. They seem to be making a creaking noise when I open or close them. Is there anything that can be done to lubricate or adjust the runners to eliminate this noise?
Alice @ EasyRebuild
Answered on May 16, 2023The creaking noise you're experiencing with the drawer runners is likely due to a lack of lubrication. To fix this, you can try the following:
1. Unload the drawers and fully extend them.
2. Locate the metal drawer runners on the sides of the cabinet frame.
3. Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant or furniture polish to the moving parts of the runners.
4. Gently open and close the drawers a few times to work the lubricant into the mechanism.
This should help reduce or eliminate the creaking noise. If the issue persists, you may need to check that the drawers are properly aligned and the runners are securely fastened to the cabinet frame. Refer to the assembly instructions or contact IKEA customer service for further assistance if needed

Posted on Mar 22, 2023I am experiencing a problem with the drawer on my SEKTION Base cab f/cooktop with 2 drawers. The drawer seems to be stuck and doesn't slide out smoothly as it should. I have tried cleaning it and lubricating the tracks but the issue persists. Have you seen this problem before?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Mar 24, 2023The issue you're experiencing with the drawer not sliding out smoothly is likely due to the drawer slides not functioning properly. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check the drawer slides: Inspect the slides for any debris, damage or misalignment. Wipe them down with a clean cloth to remove any dirt or grime buildup.
2. Lubricate the slides: Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the slides. Avoid using oil-based lubricants as they can attract more dirt and grime over time.
3. Adjust the drawer alignment: The drawer may be slightly out of alignment, causing it to bind. Locate the adjustment screws on the drawer slides and make small adjustments to realign the drawer.
4. Replace the drawer slides: If the slides are worn out or damaged, you may need to replace them. Replacement slides are available from IKEA, and the process is relatively straightforward.
Let me know if these troubleshooting steps help resolve the issue with your SEKTION base cabinet drawer. I'm happy to provide any additional guidance if needed
