Posted on Jun 04, 2023I've noticed that the table has some scratches on it, and I'm concerned about how to clean them without damaging the oak veneer. Can you provide any recommendations on the best cleaning method for this type of finish?

Answered on Jun 06, 2023To clean the scratches on the oak veneer table top, I would recommend the following:
Gently wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using any harsh cleaners or abrasives, as they can damage the oak veneer finish. If the scratches are more pronounced, you can try using a small amount of furniture polish or wood conditioner specifically formulated for oak. Apply it sparingly with a clean, soft cloth, rubbing it in the direction of the wood grain. Avoid getting the polish on the chair leather.
For deeper scratches, you may need to lightly sand the affected area using fine-grit sandpaper (220 grit or higher), taking care not to remove too much of the veneer. Wipe away any dust and then apply a thin coat of furniture wax or oil to help blend and protect the repaired area.
The key is to use gentle, wood-safe cleaning methods to avoid further damage to the oak veneer. With some patience and the right approach, you should be able to restore the table's appearance

Answered on Dec 19, 2022To clean the oak veneer tabletop without damaging the finish, I recommend the following:
Use a damp, soft cloth to wipe up spills and stains as soon as they occur. Avoid letting liquids sit on the surface. For more stubborn marks, you can use a mild wood cleaner or a solution of warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap. Apply the cleaner to the cloth, not directly on the table. Gently rub the affected area in the direction of the wood grain.
Avoid using harsh cleaners, abrasive pads, or excess water, as these can damage the oak veneer finish. Also, do not use furniture polish or wax, as these can build up and alter the natural look of the wood.
After cleaning, wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue, then dry thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth. With proper, gentle cleaning, you can maintain the beautiful, unique grain pattern of your MÖRBYLÅNGA / TEGELÖN table
