Posted on Mar 26, 2024I have the Lagkapten/Alex desk, but I'm having trouble opening one of the drawers. The handle is loose and doesn't want to stay in place while I try to open it. How can I tighten or repair the handle?

Posted on Aug 22, 2023I have just received my Lagkapten/Alex desk and I'm having trouble opening the drawers. The cut-out handles seem to be stuck and I can't get them to budge.
Is there a trick to getting them to open smoothly?

Answered on Aug 24, 2023The cut-out handles on the Lagkapten/Alex desk drawers should open smoothly. If you're having trouble, try the following:
1. Ensure the drawers are properly installed and aligned within the desk frame. The drawers need to be positioned correctly for the handles to function properly.
2. Check if there is any obstruction or debris preventing the drawers from sliding open easily. Gently wipe down the drawer slides and interior of the desk to remove any dirt or debris.
3. Apply a small amount of furniture polish or silicone-based lubricant to the drawer slides. This can help reduce friction and allow the drawers to open and close more smoothly.
4. If the issue persists, the drawer slides may need adjusting. Refer to the assembly instructions or contact IKEA customer service for guidance on properly adjusting the drawer slides.
With a little troubleshooting, you should be able to get those drawers opening and closing easily on your new Lagkapten/Alex desk

Posted on Oct 20, 2022I would like to assemble the Lagkapten/Alex desk, but I am having trouble with the drawer units. The instructions don't seem to be clear and the handles are not fitting properly into the cut-outs. Can you provide any additional guidance or troubleshooting tips?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Oct 22, 2022The issue with the drawer handles not fitting properly into the cut-outs is likely due to a misalignment during the assembly process. Here are some troubleshooting tips that may help:
1. Double-check that you have followed the assembly instructions carefully, ensuring all components are properly aligned and secured.
2. Verify that the drawer fronts are installed correctly, with the cut-outs properly positioned to accommodate the handles.
3. If the handles still do not fit snugly, try gently tapping them into the cut-outs using a soft-faced mallet or a piece of wood. Be careful not to apply too much force, as this could damage the drawer fronts.
4. Ensure that the drawer slides are functioning smoothly and the drawers are not binding or catching on any part of the desk frame.
5. If the issue persists, you may need to slightly adjust the position of the drawer fronts to achieve a better fit for the handles.
Let me know if these troubleshooting steps help resolve the issue with the drawer handles. I'd be happy to provide any additional guidance if needed
