A clear Danish oil or tung oil would work well, as they soak into the wood and create a durable, water-resistant barrier. Apply the oil with a clean cloth, going with the grain of the wood. Allow it to soak in for 15-20 minutes, then wipe away any excess. Reapply the oil every 6-12 months to maintain the protection. Alternatively, you could use a paste wax, which will also help fill in small scratches and provide a subtle sheen. Apply the wax every 12-18 months for best results. Either option will help preserve the beautiful natural look of the pine while making the surface more resistant to everyday wear and tear
