Answered on Apr 02, 2024To adjust the backrest of your BALKARP sleeper sofa:
1. Locate the adjustment mechanism on the side of the backrest. This is typically a lever or knob.
2. Gently pull or turn the adjustment mechanism to release the backrest.
3. Carefully move the backrest to the desired position, either upright for sitting, reclined for lounging, or flat for sleeping.
4. Release the adjustment mechanism to lock the backrest in place.
5. Ensure the backrest is secure and stable in the new position.

Posted on Jan 14, 2023I love the look of this sleeper sofa, but I'm concerned about the bed's comfort. Can you tell me what kind of mattress is included or recommended for the bed conversion?
Is it a foam mattress or a traditional innerspring one?

Answered on Jan 16, 2023The BALKARP sleeper sofa does not come with a mattress included. It has a built-in bed frame that converts the sofa into a sleeping surface, but you would need to purchase a separate mattress to use it as a bed.
The dimensions provided indicate the bed size is 39 3/8" wide and 74 3/4" long when fully opened. This is a standard twin or single size mattress.
IKEA recommends using a foam mattress or a thin innerspring mattress that fits these dimensions for maximum comfort and support. A thicker traditional innerspring mattress may not work well with the sofa's conversion mechanism. For best results, I'd suggest looking at IKEA's own mattress options designed for sleeper sofas and futons
