Posted on Jan 28, 2024I would like to know what type of wood veneer is used in the MALM bed frame, and if it's possible to refinish or restore the finish if it gets damaged.

Answered on Jan 30, 2024The MALM high bed frame uses a white stained oak veneer. If the finish becomes damaged, it is possible to refinish or restore the veneer. The wood veneer gives the same look, feel and beauty as solid wood, with unique variations in grain, color and texture. To refinish or restore the veneer, you can sand down the existing finish and apply a new stain or clear coat to revive the appearance. However, this process requires some woodworking skills and the right tools. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, you may want to consider hiring a professional furniture refinisher to restore the veneer on your MALM bed frame

Posted on Dec 28, 2023I've noticed that the storage boxes are not very easy to roll out and in. The castors seem a bit stuck. Are there any tips or tricks to make them move more smoothly?

Answered on Dec 30, 2023To help the storage boxes roll out and in more smoothly, here are a few tips:
First, check that the castors on the bottom of the storage boxes are clean and free of any debris or obstructions. You can try wiping them down with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust.
If the castors still seem stuck, you can try lubricating them. Apply a small amount of a silicone-based lubricant or furniture polish to the wheels and let it sit for a few minutes before trying to roll the boxes again.
Another option is to check that the floor underneath the bed is level. Uneven flooring can cause the boxes to bind or stick when trying to roll them. You may need to adjust the leveling feet on the bed frame to ensure it's sitting evenly on the floor.
If the issues persist, you may need to replace the castors. Spare parts for IKEA furniture are available through their customer service, so you can inquire about ordering replacement castors for the MALM storage boxes
