Posted on Jan 16, 2023I am having issues with the slatted bed base. The curved slats are causing some of them to break, and I was wondering if it's normal or if there might be a defect. Can you please provide any guidance on how to resolve this issue?

Answered on Jan 18, 2023The curved slats on the LÖNSET slatted bed base are designed to provide comfort and support, but it's possible that excessive weight or stress could cause some of the slats to break over time. Here are a few suggestions that may help resolve the issue:
First, ensure that the bed frame is properly assembled and the slats are securely in place. Check that the frame is level and not putting undue stress on the slats.
If the slats continue to break, you may need to replace the slatted bed base. IKEA offers replacement LÖNSET slatted bed bases that are designed to be more durable and withstand higher weights.
Alternatively, you could consider using a more rigid bed base, such as the LURÖY slatted bed base, which has straight slats that may be less prone to breaking.
If the issue persists, I would recommend contacting IKEA customer service for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting tips or arrange for a replacement part

The curved slats are fixed and designed to provide comfort zones to help keep your spine aligned. The open construction of the slatted base allows air circulation and helps keep the mattress fresh. While the bed frame is compatible with mattresses of different thicknesses, the slats themselves are not adjustable to accommodate varying mattress heights.
