Posted on Nov 26, 2023I've just assembled my PAX wardrobe and the door is not closing properly. The hinges with integrated dampers don't seem to be catching the door, and it's falling shut too quickly. Is there a way to adjust or tighten these dampers?
Alice @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Nov 28, 2023To adjust the door dampers on your PAX wardrobe, first ensure the hinges are properly installed. If the hinges are loose, try tightening the screws that attach them to the frame and door. You can also try adjusting the tension of the dampers themselves. Look for small screws or adjustments on the hinges - turning them clockwise should increase the damping effect and make the door close more slowly and smoothly. If the dampers are still not functioning properly, you may need to replace the hinges. Contacting IKEA customer service could also provide guidance on further troubleshooting steps

Posted on Jun 10, 2023I'm having some trouble closing the door of my PAX wardrobe as it keeps sticking. Are there any specific cleaning instructions for the hinges and dampers to ensure smooth operation?
Alice @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Jun 12, 2023To ensure smooth operation of the door, you can try the following:
First, check the hinges and dampers for any dirt or debris buildup. Use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe down the hinges and dampers, being careful not to get any moisture inside the mechanisms.
If the sticking persists, you can try lubricating the hinges and dampers. Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant or IKEA's TÅLIG furniture care product directly onto the moving parts. Avoid using oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and dirt over time.
After cleaning and lubricating, open and close the door several times to distribute the lubricant evenly. This should help the door operate smoothly and prevent any further sticking issues.
If the problem continues, you may need to adjust the door alignment. Refer to the assembly instructions or contact IKEA for guidance on how to properly adjust the door hinges

Posted on Aug 19, 2022I have a PAX wardrobe with one door, and I'm having trouble closing the door smoothly. The hinges with integrated dampers seem to be working properly, but the door still makes a creaking noise when it closes. What could be causing this issue?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Aug 21, 2022The creaking noise when closing the door is likely due to the door not being properly aligned. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
1. Check if the door is properly mounted on the hinges. Ensure the hinges are tightened securely and the door is evenly spaced from the wardrobe frame.
2. Examine the door hinges for any wear or damage. If the hinges are worn out, they may need to be replaced.
3. Verify that the floor is level where the wardrobe is placed. Uneven floors can cause the door to bind and create the creaking sound. Use the adjustable feet to level the wardrobe if needed.
4. Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the hinge pins. This can help reduce friction and smooth out the door closing motion.
Following these steps should help eliminate the creaking noise and allow the door to close smoothly and quietly
