Posted on Aug 23, 2023I love the KIVIK loveseat! However, I was wondering if there's a way to remove the armrests permanently?
I find that they take up too much space when I'm sitting on the sofa. Do you have any recommendations for modification or are there any other products that offer removable and permanent options?

Answered on Aug 25, 2023The KIVIK loveseat is designed with removable armrests, so you can easily remove them if you find they take up too much space. To remove the armrests permanently, you would need to disassemble a portion of the frame. This is not a recommended modification, as it could compromise the structural integrity of the sofa.
Instead, I would suggest looking into the KIVIK sectional sofa options. The sectional pieces allow you to configure the sofa in different ways, including removing the armrests entirely if desired. This would give you the flexibility to customize the seating to your needs without having to modify the frame.
Another option to consider is the VIMLE sofa series, which also features removable armrests that can be taken off completely. This could be a good alternative if you want a more streamlined look and feel

Posted on Oct 15, 2022I've recently purchased the KIVIK Loveseat in Tallmyra white/black, and I'm having some issues with the removable armrests. Can you please provide instructions on how to properly remove and reattach them?

Answered on Oct 17, 2022To remove the armrests on the KIVIK Loveseat:
1. Locate the screws on the underside of the armrest that attach it to the frame. There should be 2-3 screws.
2. Using a screwdriver, unscrew the armrest by turning the screws counterclockwise until the armrest is fully detached.
3. Gently lift the armrest up and off the frame.
To reattach the armrests:
1. Position the armrest back onto the frame, lining up the attachment points.
2. Insert the screws and turn them clockwise to tighten and secure the armrest back into place.
3. Make sure the armrest is firmly attached and does not wobble.
Take care when removing and reattaching the armrests to avoid damaging the frame or upholstery. If you have any further issues, refer to the assembly instructions or contact IKEA customer service for assistance
