Posted on Feb 28, 2024I'd like to ask for some advice on how to adjust the height of my Gladhöjden/Nils Erik sit/stand desk. I've had it for a while now and have been using it successfully, but recently the gas spring seems to be sticking and it's harder to adjust the height. Are there any tips you can offer for maintaining the desk's functionality or is there something I might need to do to get it working smoothly again?

Answered on Mar 01, 2024To adjust the height of your GLADHÖJDEN / NILSERIK sit/stand desk, first ensure the area around the gas spring is clean and free of any debris. You can try gently wiping down the gas spring mechanism with a clean, damp cloth.
If the desk is still difficult to adjust, the gas spring may need to be replaced. This is a relatively simple process - you can order a replacement gas spring directly from IKEA and follow the instructions to swap it out. Be sure to support the desktop when removing the old spring to prevent it from dropping suddenly.
If the issue persists after replacing the gas spring, there may be an issue with the desk's internal mechanisms. In this case, you may need to contact IKEA customer service for further assistance in repairing or replacing the desk
