Posted on Apr 08, 2024I purchased the MELLTORP / KÄTTIL table and chairs, but unfortunately, the chair covers have started to come off easily. How can I fix this issue?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Apr 10, 2024The chair covers on the MELLTORP / KÄTTIL table and chairs are designed to be easily removable for washing, but they should stay securely in place during normal use. If the covers are coming off too easily, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
1. Check that the hook-and-loop fasteners on the chair frame and cover are properly aligned and engaged. Make sure there is no debris or damage preventing them from adhering securely.
2. Ensure the cover is fully stretched and pulled down over the chair frame before fastening the hook-and-loop closures. This will help create a tighter, more secure fit.
3. If the hook-and-loop fasteners seem worn out, you can try replacing them. Carefully remove the old fasteners and replace them with new ones, making sure to align them properly.
4. As a last resort, you can try applying a small amount of fabric glue or sewing the cover in place for a more permanent fix, though this will make it harder to remove for washing.
With a little troubleshooting, you should be able to get the chair covers to stay securely in place on your MELLTORP / KÄTTIL set

Posted on Mar 14, 2024I recently purchased the Melltorp/Kättil table and chairs, but I'm having trouble removing the chair covers for washing. The hook-and-loop fasteners seem stuck or stiff.
Is there a trick to releasing them or can I use a tool to help?
Alice @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Mar 16, 2024To remove the chair covers for washing, try the following:
First, locate the hook-and-loop fasteners that are securing the cover in place. Gently work your fingers under the edge of the cover to find where the fasteners are attached.
Once you've identified the fastener locations, slowly and carefully peel the hook-and-loop strips apart. The fabric cover may be stiff at first, but with some gentle pulling and tugging, the fasteners should start to release.
Avoid using any tools, as this could damage the fabric or the fasteners. Take your time and work slowly to detach the cover without tearing it.
After washing, simply line up the hook-and-loop strips and press the cover back into place. Make sure the fasteners are securely reattached before using the chair again.
If you continue to have trouble, you may need to gently loosen the fasteners by hand or use a small flat-head screwdriver to carefully pry them apart. But be very careful not to damage the fabric or the fastener mechanism

Posted on Aug 08, 2022I have been trying to assemble the chair, but I am having trouble getting the hook-and-loop fasteners to secure properly. Can you provide instructions or guidance on how to adjust these so they hold securely?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Aug 10, 2022To properly secure the hook-and-loop fasteners on the chair cover:
1. Ensure the chair frame is fully assembled and in its upright position.
2. Locate the hook-and-loop fasteners on the underside of the chair seat and on the chair cover.
3. Align the hook fasteners on the chair seat with the loop fasteners on the chair cover.
4. Firmly press the chair cover onto the seat, making sure the fasteners engage completely.
5. Walk around the chair, pressing down on the cover to ensure all the fasteners have adhered properly.
6. If any areas seem loose, gently pull the cover up and re-attach the fasteners, pressing firmly.
7. Once all fasteners are secured, the chair cover should fit snugly and not come loose during normal use.
