Posted on Jan 17, 2023I'm having trouble with the drawers of my Malm 2-drawer chest. The left drawer is sticking and won't open easily. Are there any specific cleaning or lubricating products I can use to fix this issue?

Answered on Jan 19, 2023To fix the sticking drawer on your MALM 2-drawer chest, you can try the following:
First, check if the drawer is properly aligned within the cabinet frame. Gently pull the drawer all the way out and ensure the slides are clean and free of debris. You can use a soft cloth to wipe down the drawer slides.
If the drawer is still sticking, you can try applying a small amount of furniture polish or silicone-based lubricant to the slides. Avoid using oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and grime over time. Apply the lubricant sparingly and wipe off any excess.
Ensure the drawer is not overfilled, as this can also cause sticking. Redistribute the contents evenly to reduce the weight on the drawer slides.
If the issue persists, you may need to adjust the drawer alignment. Refer to the IKEA assembly instructions for guidance on how to properly adjust the drawer

Answered on Jan 05, 2023Unfortunately, it is not possible to add a third drawer to the MALM 2-drawer chest. The MALM series is designed with a specific internal structure and dimensions that cannot be easily modified to accommodate an additional drawer. The chest is engineered to have two smooth-running drawers, and adding a third drawer would require significant structural changes that are not feasible for the average user to undertake. The MALM line does offer other models with different drawer configurations, but modifying this particular 2-drawer chest is not recommended or supported by IKEA
