Posted on Dec 14, 2023I've noticed that the drawers are quite shallow and can only fit small items. How do I adjust the shelves to accommodate larger or heavier objects?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Dec 16, 2023To adjust the shelves to accommodate larger or heavier objects, follow these steps:
1. The TONSTAD storage combination has movable shelves, so you can easily rearrange them to suit your storage needs.
2. First, remove the drawers by pulling them out completely. This will give you better access to adjust the shelf positions.
3. Locate the shelf pins that are holding the shelves in place. Gently lift up on the shelf and pull it out.
4. Reposition the shelf pins to the desired height, then carefully place the shelf back on the pins. Make sure it is securely in place.
5. Repeat this process for any other shelves you want to adjust. You can space the shelves further apart to accommodate taller or bulkier items.
6. Once the shelf positions are set, you can replace the drawers. Be sure not to exceed the maximum load capacity of 35 lbs per shelf.
This should give you more flexibility to store larger or heavier objects on the adjustable shelves

Posted on Feb 11, 2023I have a tonstad storage combination and I'm having trouble opening the drawers. They seem stuck or jammed. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Feb 13, 2023The issue with the stuck or jammed drawers on your TONSTAD storage combination is likely due to the soft-closing mechanism. Over time, the soft-closing mechanism can become misaligned or blocked with debris, preventing the drawers from opening smoothly.
To fix this:
1. First, try gently pulling the drawer out as far as it will go, then push it back in firmly. This can sometimes help realign the soft-closing mechanism.
2. If that doesn't work, you may need to remove the drawer and inspect the runners and soft-closing mechanism for any obstructions or misalignment. Carefully clean out any debris and ensure the mechanism is properly aligned.
3. You can also try lubricating the drawer runners and soft-closing mechanism with a small amount of silicone-based furniture polish or lubricant. This can help the drawers glide open and close more smoothly.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, you may need to contact IKEA customer service for further assistance. They should be able to provide additional troubleshooting advice or arrange for a repair if necessary
