Posted on Nov 13, 2023I have an Eldberget/Malskar chair and I'm having trouble with the castors. They seem to be stuck or jammed, making it difficult to move the chair smoothly. Is there a way to clean or lubricate them to fix this issue?

Answered on Sep 11, 2022To remove the wheels from the ELDBERGET / MALSKÄR swivel chair, follow these steps:
1. Tilt the chair onto its side to access the underside.
2. Locate the small clips or levers on the base of each caster wheel.
3. Using a flat-head screwdriver or pliers, gently pry open and release the clips or levers.
4. Once the clips are released, the caster wheels should pop out easily.
5. Repeat this process for each of the 5 caster wheels.
After removing the wheels, the chair will be easier to move up and down stairs without the risk of it rolling away. Just be cautious when moving the chairframe without the wheels, as it may be less stable. Consider adding non-marking floor protectors or felt pads to the chair legs to prevent scratches on your floors

Posted on Jul 18, 2022I'm having trouble with the locking mechanism on the casters. The chair keeps rolling away when I try to sit down, even with my weight on it.
Is there a way to adjust or tighten the brake mechanism?
Kenzo @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Jul 20, 2022The issue with the locking mechanism on the casters is likely due to the pressure-sensitive brake mechanism not functioning properly. To adjust and tighten the brake mechanism, you can try the following steps:
1. Locate the casters on the chair and identify the brake lever or mechanism on each caster.
2. Try engaging the brake lever on each caster by pressing down firmly. This should lock the caster in place and prevent the chair from rolling away.
3. If the brake lever is not engaging properly, you may need to tighten the mechanism. Locate the small screw or bolt on the caster that controls the brake tension and tighten it slightly using a screwdriver or wrench.
4. Test the brakes again by sitting on the chair and ensuring the casters stay locked in place.
5. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the casters or consult IKEA for further assistance
