Posted on Dec 01, 2023I have an issue with the recliner's footrest. It doesn't fold out properly, and when I try to adjust it, it makes a weird creaking noise. Can I get a replacement or repair this issue?

Answered on Dec 03, 2023The issue with the footrest not folding out properly and making a creaking noise could be due to a few potential problems:
1. The mechanism that controls the footrest may be jammed or worn out. This can happen over time with regular use.
2. There could be an issue with the assembly of the footrest, and it may not be properly aligned or connected.
3. The footrest could be obstructed by something, preventing it from extending smoothly.
To resolve this, I would recommend the following steps:
1. First, try to gently clean and lubricate the footrest mechanism using a silicone-based furniture polish or lubricant. This may help free up any stuck parts.
2. If the issue persists, you may need to disassemble the footrest and inspect the internal components for any damage or wear. You can find instructions for disassembly in the product manual or on the IKEA website.
3. If the mechanism is damaged, you can order a replacement part from IKEA and follow the instructions to replace it.
4. If the issue is with the assembly, you may need to carefully re-assemble the footrest according to the instructions.
IKEA offers a 10-year limited warranty on this product, so you should be able to get a replacement or repair free of charge if the issue is due to a manufacturing defect. Contact IKEA customer service to initiate the warranty claim process

Posted on Nov 02, 2022I just assembled my EKOLSUND recliner and I'm having trouble getting the backrest to adjust properly. The manual says it should be easy to adjust, but it feels quite stiff and hard to move.
Is there a trick or specific technique that I need to use to get it to stay in position?
