Posted on Apr 29, 2023I'm having trouble getting the door to stay shut. The hinges seem a bit loose and it keeps opening slightly. Is there a way to tighten or adjust the hinges without taking apart the entire bookcase?

Answered on May 01, 2023The hinges on the BILLY / OXBERG bookcase can be adjusted to tighten the door and prevent it from opening slightly. Here are the steps to adjust the hinges without disassembling the entire bookcase:
1. Locate the adjustment screws on the hinges. There are usually two screws per hinge.
2. Using a screwdriver, turn the adjustment screws clockwise to tighten the hinges and pull the door tighter against the frame.
3. Adjust the screws a little at a time, testing the door after each adjustment, until the door stays shut properly.
4. You may need to make minor adjustments to the vertical and horizontal position of the door as well using the adjustment screws.
5. Once the door is properly aligned and stays shut, your adjustments are complete.
This should allow you to tighten the door hinges and resolve the issue without having to take apart the entire bookcase

Answered on Feb 12, 2023The shelves in the BILLY bookcase are adjustable and can be moved up or down as needed. To adjust the shelf height, you do not need any special tools. Simply lift the shelf straight up to remove it, then reposition it at the desired height by placing the shelf pins into the corresponding holes on the side panels. The shelves are fully removable if you need to take them out completely. Just be sure to evenly distribute the weight on the shelves to avoid overloading them, as each shelf has a maximum load capacity of 31 lbs
