Posted on Mar 12, 2023I'm considering purchasing the BESTÅ shelf unit with doors in Hedeviken/dark brown stained oak veneer. However, I've noticed that there's a slight gap between the door and the frame. Is this normal? How can I fix it?

Answered on Mar 14, 2023The slight gap between the door and the frame is a normal characteristic of the BESTÅ shelf unit with HEDEVIKEN doors. This gap allows for the natural expansion and contraction of the wood veneer material as humidity and temperature changes.
To minimize the appearance of the gap, you can try the following:
1. Ensure the unit is level and properly assembled according to the instructions. This will help ensure the doors align correctly.
2. Adjust the hinges on the doors. There are screws that allow you to fine-tune the door positioning and reduce any noticeable gaps.
3. Apply a small amount of wood filler or caulk along the gap, then sand and paint/stain to blend it in with the surrounding finish.
If the gap persists and bothers you, you can also consider replacing the doors with a different BESTÅ door style that may have a tighter fit. Let me know if you have any other questions

Posted on Jul 05, 2022I'm planning to put the BESTÅ shelf unit in a small space and I want to make sure it fits perfectly. Can you tell me if the dimensions you provided are including or excluding the doors? Additionally, how much clearance do I need to leave around the unit for easy opening and closing of the doors?
