Posted on Apr 15, 2024I am experiencing some issues with the swivel chair's casters, they keep getting stuck on the floor and are hard to move. Is there a way to lubricate or clean them to make it easier to move around?
Alice @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Apr 17, 2024To address the issue with the stuck casters on your TOSSBERG / MALSKÄR swivel chair, you can try the following:
1. Clean the casters: Use a soft cloth or brush to gently remove any dirt, debris, or buildup on the casters. This can help them roll more smoothly.
2. Lubricate the casters: Apply a small amount of a lightweight, silicone-based lubricant to the wheel axles and swivel mechanism. This will help reduce friction and make the casters move more easily.
3. Check the floor surface: Ensure that the floor surface is clean and even. Carpets or uneven floors can cause the casters to get stuck more easily. Try moving the chair to a different location with a smoother floor.
4. Adjust the chair height: If the chair is set to its lowest height, try raising it slightly. This can sometimes improve the caster mobility.
By following these steps, you should be able to get your TOSSBERG / MALSKÄR swivel chair's casters moving smoothly again

Posted on Jun 18, 2023I'm having some issues with the chair's casters getting stuck on the floor, especially on carpeted areas. Is there a way to make them more slippery or is this just a normal issue with these chairs?

Answered on Jun 20, 2023The issue you're experiencing with the chair's casters getting stuck on carpeted floors is a common one. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check the casters: Ensure the casters are clean and free of any debris or buildup that could be causing them to stick. You can try cleaning them with a damp cloth.
2. Adjust the caster type: The TOSSBERG / MALSKÄR chair comes with standard hard plastic casters, which may not roll as smoothly on carpets. You can try replacing the casters with soft rubber or dual-wheel casters, which are designed to work better on carpeted surfaces.
3. Use a chair mat: Placing a chair mat under the chair can help the casters roll more easily, especially on thicker carpets. Look for a mat with a smooth, low-friction surface.
4. Adjust the chair height: Lowering the chair height may help the casters engage more with the carpet, allowing them to roll more freely.
If none of these solutions work, you may need to consider using the chair primarily on hard floors or in areas with less carpeting. Let me know if you have any other questions

Posted on Jul 18, 2022I've been having some issues with the chair's casters locking and unlocking randomly, causing me to lose my balance. Have you experienced this issue before? Is there a fix or a solution that I can try?
Alice @ EasyRebuild
Answered on Jul 20, 2022The issue you're experiencing with the random locking and unlocking of the chair's casters is likely due to a problem with the pressure-sensitive brake mechanism. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and fix the problem:
1. Check the casters: Ensure that the casters are properly installed and not damaged. If any of the casters are worn out or damaged, they should be replaced.
2. Inspect the brake mechanism: The pressure-sensitive brake mechanism may be malfunctioning. Try cleaning the mechanism by wiping it down with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris that may be interfering with its operation.
3. Adjust the brake tension: If the cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, you can try adjusting the brake tension. Locate the small screws or levers on the casters and adjust them slightly to increase or decrease the brake tension until the casters lock and unlock consistently.
4. Replace the casters: If the above steps don't work, the casters may need to be replaced. Contact IKEA or a qualified repair service to obtain replacement casters that are compatible with your TOSSBERG / MALSKÄR chair.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to resolve the random locking and unlocking issue with your chair's casters
